We invite you to participate to the 5th edition of the Italy-Germany Webinar Series, this year titled “High Performance Computing: a Gateway to Next-Generation Research. Beginning this week and continuing through July 1, the series is organized by the International Relations Office of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR, Home | Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), with the support of the HLRS and the science attaché office of the Italian Embassy in Berlin. The series is conceived to be of interest to researchers from all fields, as well as the “interested layperson”. Speakers have been asked to strike a balance: avoiding the dense jargon of technical conferences without falling into the vague oversimplifications often seen in mainstream media. An additional important goal of the webinars is to foster a shared computational culture between the diverse research communities of CNR and German partner institutions, strengthening bilateral scientific cooperation. The webinars are free of charge, although registration is required. Several representatives from HLRS will give talks within the webinar series. The Role of HPC in Modern Science: Simulation and Modeling Michael Resch (High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart) An exploration of how supercomputing has become a fundamental pillar of research, transforming scientific verification through precise numerical worlds.
